ABOUT US

  • “Quail Ridge church of Christ” was originally known as the “Hollywood church of Christ” before that it was “Mountain Terrace church of Christ.”

  • The name change occurred when the Hollywood congregation relocated to James Road at Mountain Terrace.

  • Then in 1997 the congregation relocated to Quail Ridge on Egypt Central Road in Bartlett. 

  • In 1938 a Ladies Bible class began meeting in various homes in the Hollywood section of North Memphis. About a year later, E.L. Whitaker Sr. began conducting services at the home of Jack Lampley.  After some time and growth of the congregation, they moved to a rented hall in the Hollywood business district.  Various preachers served the congregation until 1942.

  • With the help of Union Avenue church of Christ in 1942, the congregation purchased a house and adjacent lot on the corner of Maplewood and Chelsea.  The membership at the time was around 200.  As part time minister, J.W. Howell worked with the church until Yarbrough Leigh was hired in 1942 as the first full time preacher.  Brother Leigh stayed until 1945, at which time Jasper Dunn preached for one year.

  • Following Brother Dunn, E.L. Whitaker Sr. once again worked with the congregation.  In 1949 Harvey Martin joined the congregation as the full-time minister.  During that time the new building was finished on the adjacent lot on Chelsea. 

  • From 1952 until October 1955, Bill Wardlaw worked with the Hollywood church.  Following him and until 1966, A.C. Carpenter was the full-time minister. The congregation had grown to 236.  Due to the growth the property on James Road in the Frazer area was purchased in 1962.  The building was finished in November 1963, and the congregation moved into the new facility in March 1964.  It was then known as, “Mountain Terrace church of Christ.

  • John R Faught began preaching for the congregation in 1966 until 1969.  However, brother Faught was hired a second time in January 1978 as minister and Personal work director.

  • When Brother Faught left in 1969, Truman Keith began his work and remained with the congregation for over three years.  J.D. Jeffcoat followed, a year later Dennis Sangster remained the minister until 1976.  W.B. West filled in until May of that year.rved

  • Bill Crossno came in June of 1976, he was full time minister for 11 years.

  • In December 1986 Larry Culbreath began his full-time work with Mountain Terrace, until 1996.

  • Gary McDade began working for the congregation part time.  Gary worked with the congregation through the move to Bartlett and the construction of the current building at 6364 Egypt Road. 

  • Mike Yates came in March 1999 and served as minister until 2005.

  • Dale Willis is the current pulpit minister.  Dale has been serving the congregation since 2005.   

Mission Statement

As humble servants of the Lord, our ministry glorifies the heavenly Father through sermons, bible classes and fellowship enriching spiritual growth that encourages, motivates and inspires ourselves and others. Our hope from teaching, learning and understanding the importance of God's word in the Holy Bible is for everyone to realize the best decision one can make is to truly choose, worship and serve the Lord.
